Shell recruiting AMO deck and engineering officers for oil fleet

Shell will conduct interviews at American Maritime Officers headquarters in Dania Beach, Fla., for AMO deck and engineering officers wishing to pursue careers in Shell’s oil fleet. Shell will be seeking senior deck officers with oil tanker experience and engineers with motor tanker experience, preferably in international trades.

Interviews with senior deck officers, chief engineers and first assistant engineers will be scheduled in May for positions in the company's managed fleet of oil carriers. The interview schedule will be determined once Shell selects the slate of candidates.

Officers selected will be required to complete the ten-day Shell Officer Induction Course. Each will be assigned to a seagoing position in the oil fleet for an approximately one-month handover. Upon successful completion of the handover, AMO officers will enter the oil fleet at their rating. Employment aboard Shell-managed vessels includes AMO representation and all required contributions to the AMO Plans. Promotions will be in line with Shell requirements and the performance of individual officers.

The number of officers selected will depend on Shell’s near-term oil fleet needs.

To be eligible, officers must be AMO members in good standing with the required license or higher rating, as well as the required motor tanker experience, and will need to be available for interviews in Dania Beach. Interested AMO members should e-mail their CV/resumé generated through the CHART system, STAR Center Training Record and references to AMO Director of New Business Development .
