New AMO jobs as maritime support vessel is prepared for service under MSC contract

The American Maritime Officers job base will expand as the M/V Cragside is prepared for service under an operating charter awarded to Maersk Line, Limited by Military Sealift Command last year.

The commencement of service for the maritime support vessel was delayed while protests of the MSC contract award were investigated and processed.

Work under the contract will be performed at sea worldwide. Under the terms of the request for proposals, the ship will host 50 sponsor personnel and will be able to ramp-up to an additional 159 personnel within 24 hours. If all optional extensions are exercised, the contract will extend to October 2018.

"This ship will operate with a complement of 12 officers at a minimum," said AMO National Executive Vice President Bob Kiefer. "We're pleased with the new jobs for the AMO membership and with the opportunity to continue our tradition of exceptional service to the U.S. Armed Forces in this important mission."
