President and CEO of Maersk Line, Limited to retire

Maersk Line, Limited President and CEO John Reinhart has announced his retirement, and will continue to lead the company until his departure at the end of January 2014.

"John has done a remarkable job at the helm of Maersk Line, Limited and has helped establish and maintain the prominent role held in the U.S.-flag industry by our union's largest contracted employer," said American Maritime Officers National President Tom Bethel. "Under his leadership, the company has expanded into new trades while sustaining its strong record of extremely effective ship management for military sealift operations."

In the announcement of his retirement, Reinhart wrote to Maersk Line, Limited colleagues: "I have been blessed to be part of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group for almost 23 years, and it has been my privilege and honor to work together with you for the past 14 years. MLL will always be present in my heart and thoughts. I will be working with the board and leadership team to finalize a smooth transition plan for the future.

"MLL has a strong team and financial base, and the company is in position to continue its 30-year tradition of service and growth," Reinhart said.

The Board of Directors of Maersk Line, Limited Nov. 14 announced it had selected J. Russell Bruner to be the next president and CEO of Maersk Line, Limited.

Bruner will succeed Reinhart when he steps down on Jan. 31, 2014 to become the CEO and executive director of the Port of Virginia.
