More TWIC enrollment centers open

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has published updates to the schedule for the opening of Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) enrollment centers. They include:
  • July 16, 2008: Decatur, Ala.
  • July 23, 2008: Riverhead, N.Y.
  • July 31, 2008: Houston, Texas (location 2)
The TSA and its TWIC contractor, Lockheed Martin Corporation, have launched a TWIC deployment Web site, with opening dates and locations for TWIC enrollment centers. The site is available at: http://twicinformation.tsa.dhs.gov, and also provides enrollment center hours of operation and port-specific communications materials.

More information about enrollment and pre-enrollment is available on the TWIC customer service line at (866) 347-8942, and on these Web sites: American merchant mariners will be required to obtain a TWIC by April 15, 2009, at the latest.

Mariners should check the expiration date when applying for and receiving a TWIC card to ensure it is correct and corresponds to the fee paid to the TSA.
